Hertford & Stortford Constituency Labour Party collects, processes and retains data for use in political campaigning and other associated activities. Hertford & Stortford Constituency Labour Party takes the responsibility in relation to data protection very seriously, and we are committed to ensuring the protection of individual's rights when collecting, holding and processing data. 

 

Hertford & Stortford Constituency Labour Party is the controller of and is responsible for your data and will be referred to in this privacy policy as "we," "us," or "our." 

1. How Your Data Is Collected

1.1 Who Collects Your Data

Hertford & Stortford Constituency Labour Party is the controller of your data and is responsible for the collection and processing of your data. You can contact Hertford & Stortford Constituency Labour Party at hertfordlabour@gmail.com. 

1.2 How Your Data Is Collected

At minimum, Hertford & Stortford Constituency Labour Party will collect any basic personal data and contact details. Additional information we may ask you to provide includes, but is not limited to, geographic information (for example your postcode), your willingness to volunteer, your date of birth, gender, ethnicity, and occupation, whether or not you are a member of a political party, trade union or other organisation, and whether or not you are a student. 

We will also collect information such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address for monitoring and improving the effectiveness of our website services as well as its security.

1.3 Where We Get Your Data From

In a majority of cases, we will obtain your data directly from you, using an electronic or physical form. Our website also makes use of cookies. Cookies are small files that are downloaded onto your computer (or your mobile phone or other electronic device) from websites that you visit. Cookies contain information that allows websites to recognise that you have used the site before.

We may sometimes supplement your data with other publicly available information, but only where we have your consent to do so, where it is necessary to do so in order to comply with a contract we have with you, one of our legal obligations or legitimate interests, or where you have given other organisations permission to share your data with us.

We will never sell your data. It may sometimes be necessary, however, to share data with our service providers or with data processors. Data will only ever be shared where this is a lawful basis to do so.

All suppliers are expected to use a standard contractual cause approved by the European Union or subject to the Privacy Shield Scheme in the United States of America.

We will process your data and contact you for any of the following reasons:

  • To inform you about campaigning activities or active campaigns run by Hertford & Stortford Constituency Labour Party.

  • To let you know about ways you can help support our campaigns.

  • To inform you about how you can campaign with us, volunteer or become a member.

We may process your data for other purposes, including:

  • Complying with our legal obligations as the data controller.

  • Answering your enquiries.

  • Responding to your complaints. 

4. Bases On Which Your Data Is Processed

Your data will be processed by us on any of the following bases:

The data we hold is processed on the basis of consent. We will, at times, process your name and contact details, any additional information about you and your views, interests and activities on the basis of consent. Where your data is processed by us on the basis of consent, that processing of your data will be restricted to the types of processing for which consent has been received. We shall indicate which categories of data we are going to process on the basis of your consent in these instances. 

If, at any point, it is necessary for us to process your data on the basis of compliance with any other contracts we may have with you, then you will be informed when we enter into that contract with you and will inform you of the types of processing that the contract will be necessary for us to carry out and the categories of data that we will process, as well as the purposes for doing so. 

5. How We Will Communicate With You

For any "direct marketing" communications about Hertford & Stortford Constituency Labour Party and our campaigns we will only contact you via email and only in the event that we have your permission to do so. 

You may also see materials from our campaign online and on social media if you have interacted with us on those platforms before. 

To respond to any queries you may have we will contact you either through the medium you have used to contact us or through a medium specified for contact by yourself. If it is necessarily to contact you for any data administrative purposes then we will attempt to contact you via email, dependent on what contact details we have available for you. 

6. How You Can Change The Way We Communicate With You

When you interact with us, we will ask you to specify whether or not you would prefer to be contacted and will also confirm how you wish to be contacted. 

There will always be a link allowing you to unsubscribe in any emails you receive from us. You can also unsubscribe or make any data related requests by emailing hertfordlabour@gmail.com

Any requests you choose to make can include requests you have the right to make as specified under data protection law. These include requests to access or rectify your data as well as any requests for us to restrict the ways in which we process your data, provide you with the data we hold on you in a portable format or log an objection you have to our processing of your data. 

You also have the right to ask for the erasure of any data we hold on you, at any time. 

6. How You Can Change The Way We Communicate With You

If, at any time, you would like to make a complaint to us about how your data is being or has been processed then please email hertfordlabour@gmail.com.
