Councillor Carolyn Redfern taking action on public transport in Sele ward

Updated: Jun 14, 2023

Labour Councillor Carolyn Redfern has written to Arriva in regards to bus route 395, following complaints from local residents that it is regularly failing to make scheduled stops on Thieves Lane and The Ridgeway.

Residents have reported that the 395 regularly deviates from the prescribed route and instead travels up to the turning point on Bentley Road and then back in the other direction. Concerns have also been raised of busses driving too fast by the playground on Bentley Road, potentially posing a threat to children and families.

“Residents in Thieves Lane, the Ridgeway and the adjoining Bentley Road deserve a better service than this,” Councillor Redfern said. “Some of our residents in Sele have contacted Arriva personally and have apparently been told that busses cannot get through on the Ridgeway. I’ve written to Arriva so we can identify the issues preventing regular service and to confirm what action is being taken to resolve them. My hope is that we can work together to find a resolution.”

Councillor Redfern remains in touch with residents in the affected areas and has been in touch with Network Homes in regards to the potential issues faced by busses attempting to get through the Ridgeway.

She hopes to update local residents on the situation in the near future and encourages anyone affected by this issue in the meantime to contact her by emailing carolyn.redfern@eastherts.gov.uk.
