David Jacobs

Bishop's Stortford Central ward

David has lived in Bishop’s Stortford for over 30 years. He was married in Stortford and his children went to school here. He is a community governor at Richard Whittington primary school, having previously served as a parent governor at the Bishop’s Stortford High School and Thorn Grove Primary School.

David worked as a civil servant for over 37 years, initially for the Ministry of Justice, then the Department for Communities and Local Government and finally the Metropolitan Police, before retiring in December 2022. He was Chief Clerk of Bishop’s Stortford County Court in Northgate End before it closed in the 1990s.

David is the Leader of the Labour Group on East Herts District Council and sits on the Audit and Finance committee on East Herts, and the Planning subcommittee and Finance and Policy committee on Bishop’s Stortford Town Council.
