Statement: Protect Child Refugees

Updated: Apr 17, 2020

It's incredibly disappointing that Hertford & Stortford's new Conservative MP has chosen to vote against ensuring that unaccompanied child refugees are reunited with their families after Brexit.

To vote against an amendment that would guarantee family reunion rights to vulnerable children is very concerning, and is a bleak indicator of what Britain's place in the world post-Brexit will look lie under the Tories.

Hertford & Stortford CLP will continue to campaign for the protection of child refugees, and for our MP to vote in-line with the values of our community. Labour will also continue to hold this Conservative government to account on decisions such as this nationally.

Labour members and supporters are encouraged to write to your local MP, questioning this choice of vote.
