Introducing Paul Newell, Labour’s candidate for Sawbridgeworth Town Council
A Bishop’s Stortford and Sawbridgeworth Labour Party branch meeting on 9th March unanimously confirmed Paul Newell as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming by-election on 7th April for Sawbridgeworth Town Council.
Accepting the nomination Paul said, “I was born and bred in Sawbridgeworth. I went to schoolhere including Fawbert & Barnard Infants' School andReedings Junior School. I was in the first intake at Leventhorpe.
I have lived in Sawbridgeworth all my life and have lived through the many changes it has seen. In my career I worked as a site supervisor and manager in the steel construction industry, but I am now retired and looking forward to serving the community as a councillor.”
Paul’s interests include creating bespoke ornamental metal works, dog walking and reading
Paul has experience of volunteering with adults with learning disabilities and has supported various fundraising events in Sawbridgeworth.
Paul outlined his policies as follows: “I feel passionate about providing a greener & safer community and tackling climate change. Housing developments must serve the needs of the community - housing should be affordable for the people who grew up in the local area. Infrastructure including schools, GP surgeries and leisure facilities roads must be built to go with housing developments and not just rely on our existing stretched services.”
