Mary is one of two Labour Councillors representing Hertford, Sele Ward. She has sat on East Herts District Council and Hertford Town Council since her election in May 2019.

On East Herts District Council, Mary sits on the Overview and Scrutiny Committee, and in the Shaping Hertford Group. She is also a participant in the East Herts Climate Forum.

On Hertford Town Council, Mary is on the Development and Leisure Committee and the Community Services Committee, and she is also a part of the Eco Working Group.

Mary is very involved in new developments on the Sele Farm Estate and has worked closely with Network Homes on the opening of their new community hub in the ward. She is also a trustee for the Sele Community Centre and joint Chair of the Thieves Lane Community Garden project.
